“In my beginning is my end.” (T.S. Elliot)
Desperately Liberated is a state of being.
A human experience.
A perceived polarity.
An intrinsically connected dichotomy.
Within the extreme sentiments of despair are the pathways to accessing unwavering liberation. Desperately Liberated is about breaking through this deceptive binary and finding a third position between the two poles. It’s about walking the line to find a sense of equilibrium. The concepts - “desperatism” and “liberation” - co-exist as two states of being on the same continuum of growth and exploration. The life journey is undoubtedly painful and traumatic. The key in finding acceptance and reaching your full potential is moving through the moments of despair to touch liberation and taste freedom. Understanding these existential dilemmas as co-existing realities in the learning process, releases you from the chains of hopelessness and despondency. To know, “you are not alone in this struggle” is the heartbeat of Desperately Liberated.
What's the deal with this blog? Why should I care?
Desperately Liberated is a personal empowerment and leadership development platform.
The overarching goal is to normalize, validate and destigmatize the human experience (and its range of complicated and confusing emotions).
The voice throughout urges you to smash through the illusion of separateness.
You are guided to look at your own learning and growth as a fluid process where states of hopelessness, despair and lack of motivation are fleeting yet critical in cultivating creativity, confidence and connection. You are encouraged to understand and perceive “desperately liberated” as interconnected, interdependent and complementary. This space echoes the normalcy of these seemingly contrary forces and urges you to walk the line between the two. The road to freedom and liberation is laced with challenge and doubt. The feeling that; “I am not enough” and “I cannot get there” is part of the process. Without these moments of despair - life is monotonous, stagnant and flat-lined. This is the human condition - the ‘ebb and flow’ is what we ALL have in common.
Through a strengths-based approach paired with engaging research, Desperately Liberated will provide pragmatic tools and reflections for you to acknowledge your pain, take ownership, build life skills and feel confident in your own abilities. Most importantly, Desperately Liberated takes a non-pathologizing approach where people can reach beyond labels to become agents of their own recovery AND discovery.
"Life is a good teacher and a good friend. Things are always in transition, if we could only realize it. Nothing ever sums itself up in the way that we like to dream about. The off-center, in-between state is an ideal situation, a situation in which we don’t get caught and we can open our hearts and minds beyond limit." (Pema Chodron, When Things Fall Apart)
Join me on this perfectly imperfect creation, as I pretend to know what I'm doing. We all have wisdom to share SO let's get this party started!
