The Philosophy
Purpose
The concepts - “desperation” and “liberation” - co-exist as two states of mind on the same continuum of growth and exploration. The basic tenant of the Desperately Liberated philosophy is that being human is complicated and by exploring these complexities, we can come to understand and truly accept our unique story. The purpose of this space is to inspire you to cultivate connection, confidence and clarity; transforming you through fleeting moments of despair to touch liberation and taste freedom. To know, ‘you are not alone in this struggle’ is the heartbeat of Desperately Liberated.
Goal
The central goal of this space is to normalize, validate and destigmatize the human experience. The voice throughout pushes you to smash through the illusion of separatism. You are encouraged to look at your own learning as a fluid process where states of hopelessness, despair and lack of motivation are critical ingredients in cultivating creativity and courage. The road to freedom and liberation is laced with doubt. The feeling that; “I am not enough” and “I cannot get there” is part of the process. Without these moments of despair, life is monotonous and stagnant. This is the human condition - the ‘ebb and flow’ is what we ALL have in common.
Approach
The Desperately Liberated philosophy does not promote quick fixes, a ‘one size fits all’ approach or unhelpful generalizations about experiences and identities. People do not need to be fixed. We need to connect, share our story and know that with support and care, we are in control of our own life. Through authentic relationship building, honest reflection and intentional self-discovery, we can build a vibrant community that supports our becoming!
